Train to Gain

Funding is available from the Learning & Skills Council which aims to bring all employees up to a Level 2 qualification. The following NVQs are available:

  • Business & Administration NVQ Level 2

  • IT User NVQ Level 2

  • IT Practitioner NVQ Level 2

  • Signmaking NVQ Level 2

  • Food Preparation & Cooking NVQ level 2

Research shows that 1.3 million people go to work every day without the skills they require to do their job efficiently.  Businesses who have invested in staff development not only have reaped the benefits of training but have improved staff confidence and motivation, improved retention rates and increased productivity.

Free training is available to help employees gain their first full Level 2 qualification. Employees that have achieved part of a level 2 qualification or Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) are also eligible.

The overall aim of the programme is to help those employees without the equivalent of 5 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) already. The table below shows examples of level 2 equivalent qualifications. If employees already hold or are studying towards these qualifications they may not be eligible for ‘Train to Gain’ funding for a further NVQ Level 2 qualification. This list is not exhaustive.
