ITeC's History

ITeCs were formed as a result of an initiative by the Department of Trade and Industry. The DTI recognized that companies, particularly small companies throughout the United Kingdom were not making the best of new technology.

In 1980 the DTI piloted a scheme to set up 'centres of excellence' which would support local companies around the UK, and looked for local sponsors to support this venture. The DTI anticipated twenty centres would be created, but this initiative proved so successful that by 1986, over 170 Information Technology Centres were in operation, some sponsored by local authorities and others by private companies or charitable trusts.

We celebrated our 20th Anniversary in June 2004 with an Open Day (more
HERE).

Hull ITeC continues to deliver a high quality training service to meet the needs of the local community.

We extended our range of training programme in late 2004 with the introduction of Catering & Hospitality training.
