NVQ & APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING : Administration

Although ever-changing due to technological advances, administration remains constant in all walks of life. There will always be a need for young people to be trained to deal with the smooth running of information systems within all organisations.

The types of jobs that the course can lead to are:

  • Clerical Officer

  • Administration Assistant

  • Personal Assistant

  • Computer and Word Processor Operator

  • Finance Assistant

  • Receptionist

Training can begin at NVQ Level 1 in Administration which will offer you an opportunity to gain valuable work based experience whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will be given one to one support and guidance throughout the duration of the course. The course only takes a year to complete yet will give you the confidence and experience you need to progress on to an Apprenticeship programme.

The Apprenticeship programme is designed for young people who would like to enter a career in the diverse area of administration ranging from mainly computer work to positions with more customer focus. When you join the training course you will complete an intensive 5 week training programme to equip you with skills and knowledge before being placed with an employer to gain valuable experience and increase your skills. This will enable you to collect evidence from you workplace for your NVQ portfolio and will prove you are capable of doing the job. Many of our apprentices are placed within the Hull City Council and start a fulfilling career in local government.

In addition to the NVQ you will also work towards Key Skills at the appropriate level. These are skills that are essential in any career path. On all courses you will follow a nationally recognised training and development path which is set by the National Training Organisation for your Apprenticeship framework.

Once you have completed your NVQ L2 in Administration along with your Key skills and Certificate in Administration, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship. You will then work towards your NVQ L3 in Administration.

Key Skills

All learners receive training in Key Skills, up to level 2 which includes Communication and Application of Number. Training is delivered on a day release where candidates produce a portfolio of evidence to meet the standards of the OCR Awarding Body.

The course is designed to be demanding and challenging, and requires a high degree of commitment from candidates.
