Youth Enterprise

Students from all HCC Training centres attended the Enterprise is for All conference at the KC Stadium on 16 November 2006.

The conference was part of the third National Enterprise week and was designed to encourage people to consider starting their own business.  Refurbit students Luke Moreton, Richard Rankin, Scott Hotham and Richard Redfern wrote this review of the event…

“The business seminar was set up to help people to start a business, to try to make us understand what is involved in running a small business and to tell us to make our lives different by running a  business instead of working for one.

We listened to speakers from different organisations and work places and the MP for education (Alan Johnson).  There was also a production from the CragRats who were very entertaining and enlivened the day.  The CragRats performance was very good and the group from Refurbit enjoyed interrogating the suspects and had a good time all round in the relaxed atmosphere.

We found the experience very helpful with regards to our future. We left the KC Stadium with a good idea and understanding of how to go about starting our own business.”

Alan Johnson MP could not be present for the event, but sent a video message giving his support for the initiative.  “Entrepreneurs are vital to the Hull economy and it takes extraordinary spirit and drive to start and grow a business.”
